The idea

Fund independent testing together

When people suspect a food or consumer product is unsafe, adulterated, or mislabeled, a single complaint rarely produces a conclusive test. Check My Food lets anyone start or join a campaign to fund an independent, accredited laboratory analysis — and to receive the result as a published report.

How it works

From a funded campaign to a laboratory report

The platform organises funding, retail sampling, and delivery into the laboratory’s usual workflow. The laboratory receives a clear brief and paid work.

  1. A campaign is opened

Someone names the product and the testing goal. The campaign stays private until a funding threshold is met, so only campaigns with real support go public.

  2. The public completes funding

Contributors reserve payment. Money is released only when the testing pathway is ready, so unfinished campaigns do not charge people.

  3. Samples are sourced independently

Retail samples are bought anonymously from more than one outlet, with chain-of-custody and cold-chain records where required.

  4. The accredited lab reports

The laboratory completes the agreed scope and issues its report. Campaign participants receive that report.

Laboratory partners

Built to respect how labs work

Check My Food is not a review site. It commissions accredited testing at commercial rates. Scope is agreed in advance. Findings are not negotiated.

What partnership looks like

We work with NATA-accredited Australian laboratories. Campaigns are funded before samples are submitted. The laboratory receives a clear brief, prepaid work, and reports in its usual form.

  • Paid analytical work from funded campaigns, not unpaid quoting rounds.
  • The laboratory does not deal with brands or campaign organisers, and is not asked to soften findings.
  • Sampling, receipts, and chain of custody sit with the platform.
  • Commercial fee schedules and standard certificates of analysis.
